Black, black, black: we all know about Black Wednesday on September 16th 1992 (run on the pound and exit of the ERM) but what about Black Thursday October 24, 1929 when the great Wall Street crash that heralded the Great Depression, followed by Black Monday, October 28 and Tuesday, October 29 …. and there was Black Monday on October 19th 1987 (Dow Jones fell 22.6% and everybody else followed) and apparently there was a Black Friday on Septem4th 1869 when some people called Gould and Fisk tried to corner the gold market… I never realised that there had been so many black days ..
