- seen in the Ecologist – you might be concerned about GM in food but the Oxford based company called Oxitec is developing GM based insects for large .. read more here scale release, funded by $5m from Bill and Melinda Gates!! This year it intends to carry out a large scale release sterile mosguitos to stop breeding. Where on earth are we going with this when we play around with insects. The well publicized problems of bee populations dyeing out around the world does not seem to deter anybody from messing with nature even more.
