The very successful MasterMinding launch took place in the Opulence Room of the prestigious Cathedral Quarter Hotel last Wednesday as the first part of the creation of the East Midlands group. Representatives from a wide variety of industries were present including construction, transport, motor industry, advertising, consultancy, arts and training amongst others. Presented by William Barron, the overall feeling from the delegates was summed up by Frank Daniels, Director of Frank Daniels Associates ... "very impressive and professionally presented seminar, which left a very good idea of what MasterMinding was all about. The content was stimulating, very engaging and the whole programme was well organised"The presentation started off with the engaging question "If Only I Knew Now - What I Knew Then" which started everybody thinking right from the start. It began the process of creating the "MasterMinding thinking environment" and allowed the delegates to become immersed and totally involved in the process. This was followed by the Hot Seat part of the programme, which in the words of one of the delegates "although a little nervous was exciting being the focus of so many people's attention, being so supportive and helpful... very useful and certainly provided me with lots of different ideas to follow up". After a quick tea and coffee break it was time for the presentation, which was entitled the "Marketing Map" which in the words of Allen Busby from Business Health Improvements "the very visual diagram resonated with everybody and showed very simply how marketing effectiveness and cost fit together in the Marketing Mix". After this there were three short presentations about the sorts of future subjects to be expected including "Cost Reduction and Effective use of Assets", "Improving Communication" and "Joining areas of Expertise", which was followed by the "Call to Action" and the reminder that "action is the currency of success". Everybody left after some lovely "brain food" armed with three specific actions to take forward, supported by a bucket-load of ideas, contacts with like-minded business owners, energised, new ideas and positive thoughts about the future. Additional feedback from delegates was .. "the variety of people present was good with some important and serious players present with everybody getting something out of the programme due to the high level of interaction from everyone" Allen Busby, Director, Business Health Improvements"Fantastically well done for a very enjoyable event. I got a lot out of the day and the interaction was superb.. being in the Hot Seat was something that I won't forget and the ideas were very useful" Steve Hodson, Director, Advance Forwarding Ltd "Benefit of having like minded people expressing views demonstrated it was good to have different perspectives... been there, been through it and here is my answer. It was very beneficial to be amongst people who have experience in other areas and have no hidden agenda" Dean Mann, Director, Scargill Mann. "What an excellent way for business people to share combined experience and wisdom. I thoroughly enjoyed the morning, good company, stimulating conversation and you leave with action points which I know will help me drive my business forward." Tony Probert, Director, Lightmedia Communications Ltd"We live in an emerging and challenging business environment, where to succeed, business leaders need to do things differently: think differently, and access information and ideas differently. When business leaders are forced into a pattern of reactive behaviour, responding to short term demands, the need to review and reflect has never been greater. Many will agonise over whether they can afford the time to participate but those who wish to turn the enormous challenges ahead into opportunities, are likely to feel they cannot afford to miss a practical way to help business leaders through uncertainty by unlocking the wisdom of participants on the MasterMinding programme."
