National Nap Week - Catnapping Print

It wasn’t until my wife showed me the article on Catnapping in the Times that I realised that it was National Nap Week…. http://women.timesonline.co.uk/tol/life_and_style/women/the_way_we_live/article5988911.ece

First of all I’d like to shake the hand if the person ....

who came up with this delightful idea of celebrating one of the things that I like doing more than anything … well maybe not as much as eating chocolate or walking the dogs wit my wife … but nevertheless who isn’t who decides what week is for what .. it could be Eating Scones week or Pulling Dandelions Week or even Candy Floss Eating Week. I am getting off the point because I am one of the world’s best cat nappers … friends tell me that I have slept whilst playing rugger, slept during part of the Carnival in Rio, whilst standing up !!  The thing is that it only takes 30 seconds for me to get the chemical levels back to normal and I’m Ok to start again.. supposing that it is National Nap Week and not an early April fool’s prank, I regularly cat nap for 30 seconds in the tube … and then I’m fine. Whilst travelling around the UK I know where the lay-by’s are, the Little Chef car parks are, the MacDonald’s car parks the motor way service stations on the routes up and down the UK where I can have a quick kip. I only need a few minutes .. maybe 5 to 10 minutes and I’m as right as rain.. I now know that apples or crisps or bananas or biscuits at the wrong time of day can send me off within 20 minutes of eating them. I have also discovered that High GI foods at almost any time of the day will cause cat naps, so the answer is stay away from High GI at any time… see my article on GI  http://www.coachinginsight.co.uk/Emotional-Intelligence-NLP/Emotional-Intelligence/Food-emotional-intelligence-good-business-health-and-our-own-Glycaemic-Index.html The thing is that my Circadian Rhythm is tuned to a low around 2.30pm and again at about 6.30pm and then it gradually increases up to a high up to about midnight. For those people who have not studied there own Circadian Rhythm and discover many things that have puzzled you for years and years, have a look at http://www.coachinginsight.co.uk/Emotional-Intelligence-NLP/Emotional-Intelligence/Food-emotional-intelligence-good-business-health-and-our-own-Glycaemic-Index.html  … pPart of what you will read is

The timing of psychological, behavioral, physiological, and hormonal rhythms with respect to natures external day-night cycle, clearly imply that temporal order is essential for optimal health. If this is true, then temporal disorder is a potential recipe for health and wellness disaster as indicated by a host of clinical and non-clinical studies. Clearly, many forms of mood and sleep problems can be traced to a circadian rhythm disturbance.
Because the circadian rhythm influences so much of how a person feels or sleeps, if a person desires optimal health, they need to manage their circadian rhythm. If a circadian rhythm is out of balance, other health aspects will be impacted and out of balance as well”

You now know the reason why I catnapped after lunch at the age of 12 years old in a Nature Lesson and received a severe reprimand. Nobody said at the time .. “not to worry ..it’s your Circadian Rhythm .. bets to keep off the mashed potatoes and sugary custard and you’ll be OK”.. no it took me over 40 years to discover it, what it meant and what to do about it. This lack of knowledge has stayed with me and has ruled my life ever since. I now know what is going on and although I try and eat what I should, it still catches me out like this afternoon and so I went and ate two carrots and some nuts .. result… I woke up and was able to keep working … the lesson is recognise when you need a kip and either succumb to it for  a few minutes or have a recipe, which for me is walk around and eat some low GI food. So learn from what you are and have the solution ready... any queries email me … This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
